What To Do On A Winter Day

It's February.  We are all tired of snow.  So what to do?

Bake some Banana Bread and dream about faraway places.
I found this recipe about a year ago on Heather Bullard's blog.  Heather and I were both guest bloggers at Home Goods a while back.  She is also a contributing editor of the newly published Flea Market Style magazine, a writer for several decorating magazines and online boutique owner.  Heather calls it "The Best Banana Bread" and I agree.  You can find her recipe if you click on her name above.  Make sure to read the post, so you know the secret as to why it is the best.

As for the Paris map and Dining in Paris book....well that is what you do when you dream on a cold day, non?

P.S.  I have added a poll on the top right side bar.  If you have time, please take the poll.  Thanks!

I made banana bread a few weeks ago. I will have to try this recipe. I am always wondering if I can find a better recipe for banana bread than the one I use. Love & blessings from NC!

I think I havre some very ripe bananas that would be perfect for a nice batch of bread. Really better with margarine? Amazing! I think I would be dreaming of England & Ireland with a side trip to the Paris flea markets!

Hi Penny!

Long time no chat :) It's been such a busy season for me, and I pop in often but don't leave myself enough time to comment, but I'm trying to have a light week and do some catching up! Perfect timing because I'm hungry for banana bread now :) I just made some last week, but I love to compare recipes so I gotta try this :)!

I spent some time going through your last couple of posts, and *gasp* everything is so GORGEOUS!!! Your home is really coming along and so beautifully elegant it is!! It must be so much fun for you to get into each room and plan it and do it! I love love love the bedroom! and of course that bathroom too! You do such a lovely job sweetie! I am still adoring your basket and think of you every time I look at it!

Hope the winter is finding you healthy and happy sweetie! Big Hugs, Cynthia xox

Oh dear, have a hankering for the banana bread; but only have two bananas! and she said must be three! so plan on making it tomorrow .. unless we are snowed in again ... 5 more inches expected tonight and into tomorrow! uuugggghhhhh .. enough! but I do think a slice of banana bread and a special hot cocoa would settle things down!!!

Hi Penny, I have a couple of bananas in the fridge waiting to be baked in a banana bread recipe. I have my mother-in-law's recipe. I make it in her memory. smile. It very good as well. I think I will bake it tomorrow.

I read your previous post. I think your subconscious mind was at work with the harlequin patterns in your home. It all looks beautiful together.

CC has captured our hearts. We have so much joy with her in our home. She loves to be loved and cuddled. Ahhhh, puppy love.

Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Jeanne

PS: Are you going to Paris??? Smiling here.

Yes, let's dream of Paris....
in the meantime, I visited Heather Bullard, and now I'll have to pull out my no-fail banana bread recipe for comparison. How come I have no over-ripe bananas right now? I always have over-ripe bananas...

Of course you're dreaming of Paris...let us know when you get back! (Yes, I'm just teasing. I know that you're not really going. It's Madrid this time.) Thanks for pointing us to Heather's for the banana bread recipe. I have yet to find one that I truly love. I thought the secret was going to be all about brown sugar.
